While Jesus was on earth women played a very important role in His ministry. Martha and Mary often provided hospitality for Jesus and His disciples. During Paul's ministry Lydia provided clothing for people in need. Damaris was a follower of Paul, and a very important part of his ministry, to be listed in the Bible. There are others who God used in special ways for His Kingdom.
The ladies at Tyro Christian Church play a very important role also. Each December a sign-up sheet for the coming year is posted. Ladies are encouraged to sign-up to do various jobs that are listed on this sing-up sheet. Some of the jobs are for one month at a time, others for the entire year.
Areas of service include:
. Cleaning, decorating, hospitality, laundering linens, organizing different
areas, planning events for children, organizing and preparing funeral dinners, planning events for women in the church, preparing communion and purchasing supplies.
Here are other ways women can help in the ministry of Tyro Christian Church:
. Working in the nursery.
. Serving as hostesses on Sunday mornings - to direct newcomers and give
them needed information.
. Serving as greeters at each of the main entrances on Sunday mornings.
. Teaching Sunday school classes.
. Teaching or helping with children's classes on Sunday's and Wednesday's.
. Helping mail out monthly church Newsletter.
. Driving elderly or disabled people to the doctor or on other errands.
Each woman at Tyro Christian Church is encouraged to get involved! There are many things to be done - as we minister together for the common goal of seeing people come to the Lord and dedicate themselves to Him for eternity!
